A letter from the IRS or the state is stressful, and ignoring it usually makes it worse. We read the notice, explain what it means, and deal with the tax authority on your behalf.
How we can help
- Replies to notices and letters from the IRS and state and local tax agencies
- Representation in IRS correspondence and office audits
- Unfiled returns: bringing past years up to date
- Back taxes: installment agreements and other payment options
- Requests to remove penalties (first-time abatement, reasonable cause)
- Sales and use tax audits in any state
- Workers' compensation, insurance premium, state unemployment, and Department of Labor audits (see Payroll)
- Help with liens and levies, and with payroll tax problems
- Disputes and appeals, including Employee Retention Credit (ERC) disallowances
- Tax-related identity theft and IRS identity verification letters
What to do now
- Do not ignore the letter: most notices have a response deadline.
- Do not call back phone numbers from unexpected calls or texts. The IRS usually contacts you first by mail.
- Send us a copy of the notice through the client portal or call us.
As CPAs we can represent you before the IRS with a signed power of attorney (Form 2848). Every case is different, and we will tell you honestly what can and cannot be done.
